Three Businesses To Start While Working Full Time

Before you consider leaving your job to seek out any new employment opportunity you may want to think about starting a small part time business. The reasons for starting a small part time business while you are still gainfully employed are numerous: extra income, a new found sense of pride, and a true opportunity to leave employment behind – just to name a few.

When asked which businesses would be the easiest to start while still working a full-time job it is the following three businesses that I highly recommend on a regular basis:

Number One: Commercial Cleaning

Most people work a regular 9 to 5 type job, requiring an average of 40 hours per week. With starting and operating a commercial cleaning business, most, if not all, of your working hours to operate this particular business will be in the early evening to late evening hours. So, if you would like to have a serious opportunity to start and grow a business that can easily replace your full time income you may want to look into starting a cleaning business. With this particular business I not only advise to start this type of business, I practice what I preach.

Number Two: Recruiting Business

All of us have some sort of specialized knowledge which could be utilized in a business venture that is separate from your current employment. A recruiting business that specializes in the seeking out and recruitment of professional individuals with your skill sets could be another business to start while you are still working your full-time job. How, you may ask! Simple. If you reside in Hartford, Connecticut and you currently work as a chemical engineer you could, hypothetically, be talking with potential employers and potential candidates on the west coast early in the morning or late in the evening. Almost all of this type of work is done via the Internet and over the phone. You will never actually meet the candidate nor the client face to face; thus, this can be an ideal part time business that works around your current day job schedule.

Number Three: Consulting

Just like in the above recruiting business model your current skills, education, and background can easily be utilized in helping other like businesses either grow or improve! Based on your particular job specialty, becoming an independent consultant can prove to be a lucrative side business! I say this with the understanding that you are not competing directly with your current employers’ business efforts. All of the work that you perform as an independent consultant can be done in the evenings as well as on the weekends.

Speaking from experience I have actually done all three of the above businesses. Each has their benefits as well as drawbacks. I would never let one single-employer be my sole source of income – never! In today's economy that looks to be stagnant at best, your job can go away at any time and for any reason. Therefore, starting one of the above three businesses may be a smart way to go.
